Meet Jana - Crested Butte Real Estate Agent

Jana Barrett moved to Crested Butte 18 years ago. Jana started in Crested Butte real estate in 1993, working for another firm in the valley before moving to Prudential in 1995. Jana and her husband Randy have two children, Ben and Graham. Ben, 7, will be a second grader this fall at the Crested Butte Community School and Graham, 4, is active in his school at Stepping Stones.

During the summer, the Barrett clan spends a great deal of time at Blue Mesa Reservoir slalom skiing and tubing on the cool mountain water. They also spend a fair amount of time hiking, wildlife watching and rejuvenating their love for the valley amid the seclusion of the mountains. "Just getting out in the woods with the cool mountain breeze on your face feels so good - it's a great break from the office and you can't beat the scenery! Every hike typically leads

to something new, something you didn't notice last time, and if you're with your kids, it can lead to a great learning experience." Jana's knowledge in the rich mining history of the Crested Butte/Gunnison valley is evident in her interest in the area's geology. She hopes someday to be involved in creating a program that teaches the lost art of mining to the local schools on the elementary age level.
